Team A plays against team B. The first rally starts with a serve. After this rally ends, the coach throws a ball onto the court. After this second rally ends, one of the teams serves again.

Part 1 of the exercise is depicted on the right-hand side of the diagram. The first player with a ball on position 1 (S) serves to A. During the serve, the setter (SV) penetrates. A passes the ball to SV and hits the set that he gets afterwards straight down the line.

Pepper for five

The players by the three-meter line defend and set. The players at the net attack.
The defence player without a spare player behind him starts by throwing the ball in the middle of the rectangle formed by the players. The other defender moves beneath the ball and sets the hitter across from him. The hitter hits the ball straight ahead to the spare defence player. The defence player digs the ball into the middle of the rectangle, after which the other defence player moves beneath the ball and the sets the other hitter. The exercise continues in the same way.

Pepper for three with two diggers

In this variant of the pepper, two players dig the hit. A starts by setting to B. B can choose to hit the ball in the direction of A or C. In the example, the ball is hit towards C. C digs the ball back towards B, after which B sets the ball to C.

The exercise starts with the ball on the side with the spare player. A starts the exercise by overhand passing the ball to B. B sets the bal to A, after which A hits the ball back to B and moves behind B.

Long step in approach after an action

A overhand passes the ball to C. C forearm passes the ball back to A and performs an approach for an attack over the mat. The mat forces the player to make the step before the last step big.
B takes the position of A, A takes the position of C, and C takes the position of B.

Short ball, spiked ball

A overhand passes the ball to C. C forearm passes the ball back and moves backwards diagonally. B spikes the ball to C. C defends this ball back to B and moves forward diagonally to his starting position.
